Show-and-Tell was originally designed to allow children an opportunity to speak publicly. This childhood activity can be socially rewarding and academically stimulating while building vocabulary and self-expression. It is fun for the children and builds self-confidence.
The next time your child has an opportunity to participate in show-and-tell what could he/she bring that would show their values? Why do you think it is important to share values with others?
If you are a teacher consider a variation on the traditional show-and-tell by asking your students to bring something that represents a value that is important to them. This is a great exercise for the child to discuss with mom or dad. They could bring an object or a picture to represent a value that is important to them.
It’s never too early to start discussing family values with your little ones. Let’s start the conversation and please share your stories!
